Project Management vs. Configuration Management

Stakeholder Engagement

Getting stakeholder consultation and engagement right is crucial for the success of any project.

If done right it can help to ease the path of a controversial and difficult project.

If done wrong it can scupper the chances of effecting any change.

It is therefore crucial to ensure that it is done effectively and that relevant expertise is applied.

What we do

Oakleigh has considerable experience of successful stakeholder engagement in a variety of settings including:

  • Local Government
  • Central Government
  • Government Agencies
  • Health and Education

We are therefore experienced in being able to judge the best methods of involving and consulting with stakeholders and knowing the right questions to ask them.

We use a number of methods for engaging with stakeholders including;

  • e-surveys
  • telephone surveys
  • postal surveys
  • face to face interviews
  • focus groups and workshops
  • meetings and briefings

We are also able to advise clients on the development of a stakeholder engagement strategy including the best way of involving stakeholders in any change related projects or programme to maximise ownership and buy- in from the important groups.

Examples of our work

Mid Beds District Council where we undertook wide ranging consultation with staff (including e-survey, focus groups, briefings, workshops, meetings and face to face interviews) as part of work on the introduction of a Career Development Framework for planners.

The Scottish Executive where extensive stakeholder consultation was carried out with Higher Education, learning providers and awarding bodies to determine the current use of learner identifiers within the Scottish education sector.

The Centre for Excellence in Leadership where we assisted them in evaluating the impact of their development programmes on the Further Education sector, gathering both qualitative and quantitative information through an e-survey and one to one interviews.

"Throughout the work the consultants proved themselves to be attentive to the needs of the project?. we will be working with Oakleigh again!"

Local Government Association

"We were extremely impressed by the level of professionalism demonstrated by the Oakleigh team."
