Business Continuity Management and
Disaster Recovery
A means to greater resilience
The need for contingency plans in case of a disruption to normal activity has never been greater. Threats to organisations can come from many quarters both internal and external e.g. the environment, pandemic flu, loss of key utilities, equipment or system failure, cyber crime, a breach of security or even a terrorist attack.
A recent survey found that only 48% of organisations had a Business Continuity Plan (BCP) covering their business critical activities. Of those with a BCP:
- 50% said that they did not rehearse their plans
- 37% don't do anything with the plans that have been developed
- 15% fail to act on any shortcomings found during the tests of their plans
How resilient do you think your business is?
- Could your business survive a major threat caused by one of these events?
- Do you have plans in place to deal with such an event?
- How often are your plans tested and what happens if they don't work?
- Do your staff know what to do and where they should go in order to carry on working in the event of a disaster?
If you feel that you don't have the right answer to any of these questions then you need to talk to us.
How we can help
Oakleigh have developed an Enterprise Wide Risk Management service incorporating Business Continuity and IT Disaster Recovery.
Our approach recognises the need for an integrated solution to managing risks and ensuring that time and resources are spent on the mission critical activities that enable the organisation to continue serving its customers and meeting its commitments.
Resilience Health Check
A key aspect of our service is a Resilience Health Check - a short but focussed study into your current resilience capability.
This addresses all parts of the business from your customer facing operation including emergency planning and crisis management, IT and telecoms disaster recovery through to your support services including succession planning, regulatory compliance and the effectiveness of your continuity plans' testing regime.
The Resilience Health Check enables you to gauge very quickly how resilient you are across a broad range of areas of your organisation providing you with an overview of vulnerabilities and resource shortfalls.
How we have helped other clients
Our service has been adopted in different ways by clients, from a Resilience Health Check reviewing the effectiveness of the existing plans to a full implementation plan.
Some clients prefer us to advise them on where they might be vulnerable and then to provide them with an implementation that they undertake with our guidance.
