Oakleigh awarded HEFCE contract to evaluate opportunities for higher education students
The Higher Education Funding Council (HEFCE) has awarded Oakleigh a contract to undertake research to evaluate opportunities for higher education (HE) students to undertake high quality work experience and to make recommendations on how these opportunities can be increased. Oakleigh will be working in conjunction with the CRAC the career development organization.
The research will draw on findings from an evaluation of the undergraduate and graduate internship schemes that HEFCE funded in 2010 and examine alternative approaches and models. It will also look at the barriers and enablers of expanding take up of work placements. The results of the research will contribute to a clearer understanding of the key factors which affect supply and demand, and the role of funding in improving placement opportunities. The final report (due in April 2011) will inform HEFCE policy development and advice to Government as well as developments in work placement and internship activity.
