BCS Health Scotland "Empowering Patients to gain more from eHealth"
Oakleigh attended a two day conference in Edinburgh on the clinical and patient portal.
The Scottish Government Health Programme aims to improve patient care through advances in technology, resulting in better access to ehealth information, quicker test results for clinicians and joined up GP and hospital services.
The development of the clinical portal is one of the most important aspects of delivering the ehealth Programme in Scotland. The clinical portal is an electronic window that allows clinicians to view patient information from disparate information systems in a "virtual" health record. Easier access to patient information will improve patient care and informed decision making, with assurance to patients that the appropriate staff have access to up to date records to manage care delivery.
Clinical Portal - Benefits for clinicians
- Authorised clinicians able to access consolidated information held in disparate systems with one single sign on.
- Single patient demographic search to retrieve information in different systems
- Role based access with authentication
Clinical Portal - Benefits for patients
- Reassurance clinical staff have access to up to date information
- No need to repeat patient information to different clinical staff
- Enhanced ability to detect inappropriate use to their information
Oakleigh is working with CSAM Health in the delivery of a clinical portal. We are providing the implementation management, including programme and project management, change management, technical consultancy, stakeholder management and training.
CSAM Plexus is an information and service collaboration tool designed to integrate existing applications and information among healthcare professionals within hospitals. Its power as a support for clinicians lies in its ability to collect, transform and combine information from many different data sources into a user-friendly common information model.
For the organisation, the clinical portal provides:
- The freedom to choose IT strategy while maintaining existing legacy systems
- Speed of adoption
- Rapid return on investment through quick and safe implementation
- Access to all integrated systems giving clinical information from a single view.
