Learning is moving beyond formal classroom environments to become part of social and leisure activities. Learners at school, in higher or further education and employees involved in professional development are using technology to make educational content and access to it relevant to their interests and lifestyles. The role of learners is changing too, as they become collaborators as well as recipients of information.
In the first article in this series we looked at the 'hands on' technologies that integrate real and online worlds and enable learning to take place 'whenever and wherever'. Specifically Web 2.0, social networking, virtual worlds, handheld and tablet devices.
We hope that this overview of technologies contributing to and supporting the blurring of boundaries between the real and online world is informative and thought provoking. If you would like to follow up on any aspect, or to find out more about what Oakleigh can do for you, please contact us.
