British Library selects Oakleigh to develop and support Web Curator Tool
The British Library has selected Oakleigh Consulting to develop and support its Web Curator Tool (WCT).
The tool's function is to allow curators to manage and schedule their work when building and maintaining an archive of web sites, and represents a step change in productivity in the archiving work undertaken by British Library, and indeed many other libraries around the world, preserving key internet content for future generations.
WCT was initially developed through a collaboration between the British Library and the National Library of New Zealand. Because of WCT's position as a core strategic component of the British Library's web archiving infrastructure, the British Library has engaged Oakleigh Consulting to deliver new functionality to further improve the productivity of the Web Archiving Team.
This development will be undertaken using an agile or iterative approach to provide maximum flexibility in the ongoing development. WCT is an Open Source application and is currently used by a number of other National Libraries.
