Business Cases
Business Cases are the key means to decide which initiatives to fund and how much resource to provide. Apart from providing a tried and tested way to help an organisation judge the merits of competing proposals for investment, business cases also:
- Ensure that that the rationale and the costs, benefits and risks of the different delivery options for each investment are properly explored.
- Help prove that investment decisions are soundly and transparently based.
- It takes time, effort and skill to research and put together a well-argued business case that will unlock the resources an initiative needs.
Unfortunately, due to time pressures, it is often necessary to start working on setting up an initiative alongside the development of its business case and either or both of these activities suffer. The risks this can cause are, the initiative:
